How did PBFC Get Started?

Pastor Steve believes that the Lord placed it on his heart to pioneer a new church in this area of the type that PBFC is now.  However, he did not feel qualified or prepared to start a new church at the time, which was an interesting dilemma.

An arrangement was worked out with another pastor who had done meetings in midcoast Maine in the past and had a heart for the area.  His church opened a branch in Rockland, meeting at the Trade Winds Motor Inn in the same room PBFC now uses.  Pastor Steve was the Associate Pastor underneath him and preached most of the Sunday messages in Rockland.

After two years, both he and Pastor Steve expressed a desire for the Rockland church to become independent.  In the summer of 2003, the other church handed over the Rockland work to Pastor Steve and ceased being responsible for it.  Penobscot Bay Family Church was legally incorporated as an independent church in September 2003.
